The Clever Bitch — The Clever B ®

Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Plain-English version — because nobody should need a law degree to understand how their data's used.

Last updated: 31 July 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with us through our website thecleverb.co or related platforms. By giving us your details, you're confirming you're over 13 years old.

Who we are: Natalie ‘Tallie’ Henshaw, trading as The Clever B ®, part of The Business Unicorn. That's me — and I'm the data controller, which means I'm responsible for looking after your information and deciding how it's used.

Contact: support@thecleverb.co  ·  279 High Street, Rainham, Kent ME8 8DR. If any of your details change, email me at support@thecleverb.co so I can keep things up to date.

2. What data we collect and why

"Personal data" just means any information that could identify you. Here's what I collect, why, and the lawful basis for doing it:

Communication Data — anything you send via email, form, DM or message. Used for: replying, keeping records, and handling legal matters if needed. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

Customer Data — your name, contact details, purchase info and billing info when you buy something. Used for: delivering your products and keeping transaction records. Lawful basis: contract.

User & Technical Data — things like your IP address, browser type, time on page and which pages you visit. Used for: improving the site, keeping it secure, and understanding what works. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

Marketing Data — your preferences for receiving emails or ads. Used for: sending promotions, freebies and updates you've opted into. Lawful basis: consent or legitimate interests.

Advertising Audiences — to show my ads (and reach people like you) on Meta, I may share a securely scrambled (hashed) version of your email with Meta. Used for: running and measuring my Facebook/Instagram ads (see §5). Lawful basis: consent for advertising cookies/the Meta pixel (via the cookie banner), and legitimate interests in promoting The Clever B and measuring my ads — always subject to your right to object (§9).

Sensitive Data — I don't collect sensitive information like health, religion, sexuality or political opinions.

In plain speak 🪄

I collect your contact + purchase details so I can deliver what you bought, plus basic site data to keep things running. Nothing sensitive, ever.

3. How we collect your data

You might give it to me directly (via forms, emails or downloads), or it might be collected automatically through cookies and analytics tools like Google or Meta (Facebook/Instagram). For details on cookies, see the Cookie Policy. Sometimes I receive information from trusted third parties like payment processors, analytics providers or advertising networks — always within data protection rules.

4. Marketing & communication

If you've downloaded something, made a purchase, or asked for info, you might occasionally get emails or ads from me about related offers. You can unsubscribe or opt out anytime by clicking "unsubscribe" in any automated email. If you unsubscribe, I'll stop marketing emails but still keep necessary records for things like purchases or legal reasons.

5. Sharing your information

I only share your data when necessary and safe, for example:

  • With trusted service providers (email, CRM, payment systems).
  • With advertising partners — specifically Meta (Facebook/Instagram), to run and measure my ads (see below).
  • With legal or financial professionals if needed.
  • If part of the business changes hands (in which case you'll be told first).

Advertising partners (Meta). I advertise The Clever B on Facebook and Instagram (run by Meta Platforms, Inc.). To do this I use Meta's tools — the Meta Pixel and Conversions API — and I may share limited data with Meta, such as a securely scrambled (hashed) version of your email address. Meta uses this to measure how my ads perform, show my ads to people already interested in me, and help me reach new people with similar interests. It's only ever shared scrambled, Meta handles it under its own data-processing terms, and you can control it anytime through the cookie banner and your Meta ad settings.

Everyone I work with must follow UK data protection law and keep your info secure. I never sell your personal data.

In plain speak 🪄

Because I run Facebook/Instagram ads, I share a scrambled version of your email with Meta so I can show and measure them — never your raw details, never sold, and you can switch it off anytime via the cookie banner.

6. Data transfers outside the UK/EU

Some tools I use (like Google or Meta) are based outside the UK/EU. When your data is transferred internationally, I make sure they have proper legal safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses or approved frameworks). If none apply, I'll ask for your clear consent before sharing anything that way.

7. Data security

Your privacy matters. I've put in place digital and organisational safeguards to protect your data from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. Access is only given to those who genuinely need it — and they're bound by confidentiality. If a data breach ever occurs, I'll let you and the relevant authorities know when legally required.

8. Data retention

I keep data only as long as it's needed. For example:

  • Customer and payment data — up to 6 years (for tax/legal reasons).
  • Marketing data — until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.

After that, it's securely deleted or anonymised.

9. Your rights

You have rights over your personal data. You can:

  • Ask to see what data I hold about you.
  • Request corrections or deletions.
  • Limit or object to how it's used.
  • Withdraw consent anytime.

To do that, just email support@thecleverb.co. I'll respond within one month unless it's complex (in which case I'll let you know why it's taking longer). If you're unhappy, you can complain to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) at ico.org.uk — though I'd appreciate the chance to sort it with you first.

In plain speak 🪄

Your data is yours. Want to see it, fix it, or have it deleted? Email support@thecleverb.co and I'll sort it — usually within a month.

10. Third-party links

Sometimes I link to other sites or tools. Once you leave mine, their privacy policies apply — so please read those if you're unsure.

11. Cookies

Cookies help things run better (and track what works). You can block or manage them in your browser. Full details are in my Cookie Policy.

In plain speak 🪄

I only collect what's necessary, store it securely, and use it to make your experience better — never to spam or sell your data. If something doesn't feel right, just reach out. You have full control over what happens with your information, always.
